Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Cogit.
- Does my crew need to create an account?
- No. They get an email with three buttons — Yes, No, Maybe. One click and they're done. No app download, no account, no login.
- How much does Cogit cost?
- Free during early access. A paid plan will be introduced later, but early adopters will get a special rate. Your crew never pays — it's free for them forever.
- Who controls what gets sent to my crew?
- You do — completely. Cogit never sends a single email to your crew without you clicking the button. You choose which crew members to invite, when to send reminders, and what messages go out. Your roster is private to you, and no one on your crew list will ever hear from Cogit unless you initiate it.
- How do I know who's responded?
- Your dashboard shows real-time crew status for every race — who's confirmed, who's a maybe, and who hasn't responded yet. You also get a summary email so you always know where things stand without having to log in.
- Can I invite the same crew to multiple races?
- Yes. Your crew roster is saved. When you create a new race, invite your whole roster or pick specific people. No re-entering names and emails.
- What happens if someone doesn't respond?
- Send a reminder with one click. Cogit tracks who's responded and who hasn't, so you always know where things stand — and you can see it all on your dashboard.
- Can I add or remove crew mid-season?
- Absolutely. Your roster is your own private list. Add new crew or remove old ones anytime. Everyone you add gets the same frictionless email experience.
- What if a race gets cancelled?
- Just delete it from your dashboard. Click the menu on any race card and select "Delete Race." If you've already invited crew, Cogit automatically sends them a cancellation email — you can even add a short note to explain why.
- Does it work on mobile?
- Yes. You manage your races on mobile or desktop. Your crew responds from any device, right in their email inbox.
- What if my crew doesn't check email?
- Share the race link in your group chat instead. Anyone with the link can tap to RSVP in seconds — no email address required, no account, no app download. You get notified the moment they respond, and your dashboard updates automatically.
- Does Cogit work with WhatsApp or iMessage?
- Yes. Share your race or series link in any messaging app — WhatsApp, iMessage, wherever your crew already communicates. They tap once to RSVP. You see the response on your dashboard immediately.
- What is the best app for managing sailing crew?
- Cogit is purpose-built for racing sailboat owners who need to coordinate crew across a season of races. Unlike group chats or spreadsheets, Cogit tracks RSVPs per race, sends automatic reminders, and shows a real-time dashboard of who is confirmed, maybe, or pending. Crew respond with one tap — no app download or account required. Free during early access.
- How do racing sailors coordinate crew for regattas?
- Most racing sailors coordinate crew through a mix of group texts, emails, and manual follow-up — which means chasing RSVPs in the days before every race. Cogit replaces that process: the skipper adds races to a schedule, invites crew by email or shares a link in a group chat, and crew RSVP with one click. The dashboard shows confirmed, maybe, and pending status in real time.
- How do I get crew for a sailboat race?
- To fill your crew for a sailboat race, build a roster of sailors you've raced with before, then send invitations as early as possible — most experienced crews need 2–3 weeks notice for regattas. Cogit lets you invite your full roster or specific crew members per race, then tracks who's confirmed so you know exactly how many spots you still need to fill.
- Do I need an app to manage my racing crew?
- No. Cogit works entirely through a web browser — no app download required for the skipper or the crew. Crew receive an email with three buttons (Yes, Maybe, No) and respond in one tap. If your crew prefers group chats over email, you can share a race link in WhatsApp or iMessage instead, and they RSVP the same way.
- How do I track who is sailing on race day?
- Cogit's dashboard shows crew status for every upcoming race: confirmed, maybe, pending, and declined. You can see at a glance whether you have enough crew and who still hasn't responded. If you're short, send a reminder with one click — Cogit tracks individually who has and hasn't replied, so you don't have to keep a mental list.
- Can I manage crew for a full racing season, not just one race?
- Yes. Cogit supports season-long series — set up your recurring race series once, then invite your crew to the entire series with one invitation. Crew RSVP for each date individually. Your dashboard shows which races have full crew and which still need attention.
- Is there a free sailing crew management app?
- Cogit is free during early access for boat owners. Crew members never pay — their RSVP experience is free permanently. A paid plan for boat owners will be introduced after early access, and early adopters will receive a discounted rate.
- What do racing sailors use instead of group chats for crew coordination?
- Group chats work for casual communication but break down for crew coordination because RSVPs get buried in conversation threads and there's no central view of who's confirmed. Cogit is designed specifically to replace the coordination layer: structured per-race invitations, tracked RSVPs, and a dashboard that shows status at a glance — while still allowing crew to respond via WhatsApp or iMessage.
- How does Cogit compare to using a spreadsheet for crew management?
- A spreadsheet requires manual updates every time crew respond, offers no automated reminders, and means crew have to find and edit the sheet themselves. Cogit automates the invitation and tracking process: invitations go out from your dashboard, crew respond in one click without needing to open or edit any document, and your roster updates automatically. Setup takes under 5 minutes.
