Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 31, 2026 · Last Updated: March 31, 2026
Get Cogit is a product of Shipping on Fridays LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about you when you use our website, web application, and any other platforms or services we may offer now or in the future (collectively, the “Services”).
The Services help racing sailboat owners coordinate crew by automating race invitations, RSVP collection, and reminders. There are two types of users: Boat Owners, who create accounts and manage their crew rosters and race schedules, and Crew Members, who receive email invitations and respond without creating an account.
By accessing or using our Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this Privacy Policy, please do not use our Services.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to all personal information we collect through our website at getcogit.com and any associated subdomains, our web application and any future mobile or desktop applications, automated emails sent by the Services on behalf of Boat Owners, and any communications between you and us, including email, chat, and support tickets.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, applications, or services that may be linked from our Services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third parties before providing them with personal information.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: information you provide to us directly, information collected automatically, and information received from third parties.
2.1 Information Provided by Boat Owners
- Account Registration Data: Name and email address provided through Google OAuth sign-in.
- Boat Information: Boat name, boat class, and other details the Boat Owner enters when setting up their profile.
- Crew Roster Data: Names and email addresses of Crew Members that the Boat Owner adds to their roster. By adding a Crew Member to your roster, you represent and warrant that you have a legitimate basis to share that person's name and email address with us and to send them race coordination communications on your behalf.
- Race and Schedule Data: Race names, dates, times, locations, and crew size requirements that the Boat Owner creates within the Services.
- Communications: Information provided when contacting us for support, submitting feedback, or otherwise corresponding with us.
2.2 Information Received from Crew Members
Crew Members interact with the Services only through email invitations sent by Boat Owners. We collect:
- RSVP Responses: When a Crew Member clicks a response link (Yes, Maybe, or No) in an invitation email, we record their response and associate it with the relevant race invitation.
- Link Interaction Data: The date and time a magic-link token was used and the response selected.
- Opt-Out Preference: If a Crew Member clicks the “Unsubscribe” link in any email, we record the date and time of that action. This preference is stored per-roster (specific to one Boat Owner's crew list) and is used to ensure the Crew Member no longer receives emails from that Boat Owner through the Services.
Crew Members do not create accounts. We do not independently solicit personal information from Crew Members beyond what is provided by the Boat Owner who added them to a roster.
2.3 Information Collected Automatically
- Log Data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, date and time of visit, and time spent on pages.
- Device Information: Hardware model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers, and (for mobile) mobile network information.
- Usage Data: Features you use, actions you take, clickstream data, and information about how you interact with the Services.
- Email Engagement Data: Whether an invitation or reminder email was delivered, opened, or had its links clicked. This information is provided by our email delivery service provider.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: As described in Section 6 below.
2.4 Information from Third Parties
- Google OAuth: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google, subject to the permissions you grant. We do not receive your Google password.
- Email Delivery Providers: We may receive delivery receipts, bounce notifications, and engagement signals from our email delivery service.
- Payment Processors: When paid subscriptions are introduced, our payment processor will provide transaction confirmations and limited billing details. We will not store full credit card or bank account numbers.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the Services: Create and manage Boat Owner accounts, authenticate identity, send race invitations and reminders to Crew Members, display RSVP status on the Boat Owner’s dashboard, and otherwise deliver the features you request.
- To send automated service communications: Deliver invitation emails, reminder emails, and RSVP confirmation notifications that are part of the core functionality of the Services.
- To improve and develop the Services: Understand how users interact with the platform, diagnose technical issues, analyze usage trends, and build new features.
- To communicate with you: Respond to support inquiries, send transactional messages (account confirmations, security alerts, billing receipts), and send service announcements.
- To send marketing communications (with your consent): If you have opted in, send newsletters, product updates, or promotional materials. You may opt out at any time as described in Section 8.
- To ensure safety and security: Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity, abuse, unauthorized access, and other harmful activity.
- To comply with legal obligations: Respond to legal requests, enforce our Terms of Service, and fulfill applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- For aggregated analytics: We may use de-identified or aggregated data that cannot reasonably identify you for research, analytics, and service improvement.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share personal information only in the following limited circumstances:
4.1 Service Providers
We share personal information with vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, including cloud hosting and database providers, email delivery services, authentication providers (Google), payment processors (when applicable), customer support platforms, and analytics providers. These parties are contractually obligated to use your information only as directed by us and consistent with this Privacy Policy.
4.2 Boat Owners and Their Crew
Crew Member names and RSVP responses are displayed to the Boat Owner who manages that crew roster. Crew Members' email addresses are not displayed to other Crew Members.
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose personal information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to: (a) comply with applicable law, regulation, or legal process; (b) protect the rights, property, or safety of Shipping on Fridays LLC, our users, or others; (c) investigate or prevent fraud or security breaches; or (d) enforce our Terms of Service.
4.4 Business Transfers
If Shipping on Fridays LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, financing, or other business transaction, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you if such a transfer occurs and your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
4.5 With Your Consent
We may share your information with third parties when you have given us your explicit consent to do so.
4.6 Aggregated or De-Identified Data
We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you with third parties for research, industry analysis, or other purposes.
5. Crew Member Data and Boat Owner Responsibilities
Boat Owners upload the names and email addresses of their Crew Members into the Services. When they do so, Boat Owners act as the data controller for that Crew Member information, and the Company acts as a data processor on their behalf.
Boat Owners are responsible for:
- Ensuring they have a legitimate basis under applicable law to share Crew Members' contact information with us.
- Ensuring Crew Members are aware that their contact information will be used to send them race coordination emails.
- Removing Crew Members from their roster promptly if asked to do so.
- Not adding contact information for individuals who have previously asked not to receive race coordination communications.
If you are a Crew Member and wish to be removed from a Boat Owner's roster or to stop receiving emails, you may: (a) click the unsubscribe or opt-out link in any email you receive, or (b) contact us at support@getcogit.com and we will coordinate with the relevant Boat Owner to have you removed.

Our Services may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites, services, or applications (such as Google for sign-in). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services.
